Quick report

No signs of instability during the hike, and an ECT showed no signs of movement. When popping the column from the back, it propagated down to the large layer of faceted snow roughly 70cm deep. The snow was heavily affected by the recent wind, and conditions were incredibly varied on our way in, from icy hard pack, windblown chalk, mash potatoes, and pow. The wind lips scattered across the snow made for interested turns. The road out had snow coverage varying from a small track width to large, deep rollers. Elkcalf Mountain is looking very bare with the recent weather. Weather had temperatures getting into the low 40s, and WSW wind around 10mph with 20mph gusts.

Avalanche

Crowns of recent avalanche activity were present along the hike, primarily on steep, tight gullies.
