Quick report

No signs of instability today. Plenty of action from yesterday; but things seemed to have settled down. Rain crust followed us from the parking lot up to about 5K. Above that it was a mix of stiff wind board and some recycled pow in the protected trees. The infamous buried surface hoar was 65 cm down. Test result was ECTN 22. We noticed widespread surface hoar above 6K. There is active logging going on the first 10 miles from Olney- heads up!

We saw 6 avalanches that failed naturally yesterday(12/18). They were 8-10 inches deep, failing in the new/old interface. All avalanches were soft slab; D1-1.5. We did note one crown across the drainage that had wrapped through trees and across the slope for several hundred feet. It was too far away to determine the layer it failed on.
