Quick report
We started touring up cracked ice at 11am, a temperature crust with visible rain runnels was present until 3,000’. We measured 50cm of storm snow at 2,000’, and then 88cm at 4,000’ where we dug a pit. Results were ECTN 26 down 20cm F-4F, and CT 29 Q3 down 40cm 4F-1F, both within the recent storm snow. We did not have standard test results at the base of this storm snow but did find small rounding facets and when stepped on, it propagated with a Q1 failure. We continued up and noticed a surface hoar at 4,500’ that grew to 3m as we gained elevation. We topped out on the summit ridge and rode down beside our skin track. At around 1 we saw a large wet loose d3 avalanche run into the steep creek ravine across the valley on a south west aspect.
