We dug a pit at 7200' on an 18 degree WSW slope this afternoon to see how reactive the buried weak layer is doing. Snowpack is acting about as expected after this past storm. Around 26 cm of new snow above a M/F crust with 8 cm of well developed NSF's below. This was the main layer of concern before heading out and proved to be such when testing. CT11 Q2 and ECTP11 both on that faceted layer. I suspect that this weak layer could persist for a bit longer considering how well developed the facets are. The new snow from this past storm formed into a very cohesive slab. There was a very breakable surface crust (either rain or M/F) on surface with around 2cm of graupel on top. Proved to be some horrible skiing conditions. Isolated collapsing due to breakable crust on surface.
