Quick report

Cracking
isolated

Some field observations from the weekend.

Saturday 1/31: Grand Teton National Park. Found isolated wind slabs 4-6” deep above 10,500’. One of these pockets produced a 4-6 foot long shooting crack. A subsequent ski cut did not produce an avalanche.

Sunday 2/1: Near Treasure Mountain. Observed buried and mostly preserved surface hoar 2-3” below the surface from 7500’ - 8,000’. Multiple aspects on the north half of the compass. 3 out of 4 hand pits in this area revealed preserved surface hoar several inches below the surface.
