Minor signs of instability indicated higher, colder places could hold isolated areas where one could trigger a slab. For the most part, today was a healing day for the snowpack, though it'll take some time to heal up the persistent crust/facet setup that exists in the upper pack. Rollerballs and sticky snow all indicated warming conditions, though no actual wet loose avalanches occurred.

We have some interesting layers, luckily they're all in the upper 30cm of the snowpack at the moment. I was able to find a few different buried surface hoar layers. The one from December 19th is most prominent, and sat directly on a thin crust. Small rounded facets were found sandwiched beneath this crust and another thicker crust below. This faceted layer was 10-15cm thick and becomes more noticeable as the surface crust becomes weaker and more brittle above 5,500ft. Isolated cracking occurred from time to time between my skis and within a few feet from them. I found the failures to be occuring both above and below the thin crust, sometimes on surface hoar above, sometimes on weaker snow below. 

Despite my efforts I couldn't get a larger chunk of wind loaded snow on this structure to collapse with a whumph, but the snowpack seemed close.

Test results from profile site on E at 5,100ft: Tilt tests positive beneath crust down 16cm. PST 40/100 (End), though stepped up to above the crust at the end.

Coldest snow temp was -3 at 20cm down.
