Quick report

There's a sharp snowline around 7500 ft on Mt. Hood this Fall. With the exception of a few wind drifted ribbons, there is very little snow below 7500 ft right now.  Once above this elevation, the snowpack becomes significantly more connected and consistent.  While there is snow across the upper mountain, its still very shallow and gnarly up there. There are plenty of early season hazards such as rocks, thinnly bridged (or still open) crevasses, and icy-surfaces. Any slip or fall in steep terrain could easily have an undesiarble outcome with the amount of early season hazards lurking.
