It was a hot day. Although we saw no wet avalanches or obvious signs of instability, we suspect we could have triggered a small wet loose on steep sunny slopes where the snow surface was wet and unconsolidated. 

No obvious signs of instability.

Shaded:
We sought out soft snow at shaded middle elevations. We were most interested in how near-surface facets were holding up against the heat. On all slopes we traveled, the facets right at the surface were feeling the effect of warm temperatures. All slopes, including steeper, wind-sheltered, shaded terrain with no direct sun, had a fragile crust up to 8,500'.

Sunnier:
We traveled in limited sunny terrain. On a low elevation W-SW, the surface of the weak, faceted snowpack was wet down about 10 cm. We expect that small wet loose avalanches were possible in similar snowpacks in steeper terrain.
