Quick report

This buried weak layer is still reactive and careful terrain selection is needed to mitagate this problem. Any wind loaded terrain could mean a much bigger slab breaking and burying or injurying someone.

The top layer of new snow was easy to move where we dug pits and easily ID in hand pits.

Some southern winds on the glacier coming in and out. Sun/light came and went most of the day.

Snowpack

The storm from 4/7 deposited about 30cm on top of a faceted layer. This weak layer was easy to identify on East and West aspects.

Hand pits broke easily and test proved reactive on this layer.

Avalanche

We did not see any natural avalanches in Gulkana.
