Wet. Windy. Storming. Rain/snow line was around 9000 feet at noon, but it had come down to 8300 feet by 1:30 pm. Moderate to intense blowing snow from strong west winds above the rain/snow line.
Snowpack
The top 2-8 inches of the snowpack was wet and saturated to 9300 feet.
Soft slabs: up to 20 cm thick with wet snow over dry, consolidating snow from last weekend over dry facets. Triggered slabs and shooting cracks at the wet/dry snow boundary and propagation/bed surface on the facets.
Wet loose snow: big rollers and small triggered wet loose on slopes steeper than about 35 degrees where the upper snowpack was not slabby from wind drifting.
I ran into a professional guide who turned his clients around just above Crystal Lk ~10K' because he was getting the same results I was on the same structure, but the slabs were ~30 cm thick.
