- <p>Unbearably warm. Now into a few nights of way above freezing temps. Lots of shedding was observed, along with one significant WL today (E 9400'). </p>
The snow surface is dirty in many areas from last weekend's strong winds and blowing dust.
The TG Road is a mess with downed trees and one stuck vehicle by the gravel pit turnoff. There are a few patches of asphalt growing bigger by the day. You can drive up about 1-1.5 miles, but there's no turnaround, so a sled deck or small, manageable trailer is best.
Snowpack
The snow surface is rough and littered with debris from last weekend's very strong winds. There are areas where pine needles have collected and covered the snow, like in the gully going up to Mt. Naomi.
The snow was supportable in tracked areas and very punchy in untracked. Sled skis sank about a foot in the afternoon.
We observed a decent-sized wet loose avalanche under Grandfather Cornice that occurred while we were in the area.
The snow on sunny slopes is completely saturated. The snow on N-facing terrain has some structure but is moving to isothermic. In our pit, we found distinct layers, with the most obvious and weakest being the 5 cm-thick graupel that fell on March 1. It has melted and refrozen into almost 5 mm+ slushy ball bearings. It sits about 8-10" beneath the last storm snow (4F+ slab) from March 4-6.
