GTSR

New snowfall came in as rain, forming an ice crust beneath the newest snowfall. However, temperatures remained warm enough that the new snowfall bonded well. We found isolated wind slabs 6-8 inches deep above 7,000 feet that remained well-bonded and fairly unreactive. Skies remained overcast, and any avalanche activity observed was limited to loose wet avalanches around 6,000 feet on solar aspects. We regarded any overhead hazards (like cornices, ice fall) cautiously additionally. Low visibility also limited what we could observe. We did note one large recent avalanche (D2) likely occurring Friday in the late day warmth that hit the GTSR that likely started ~7,200 feet on a W aspect. Instability is limited to wet, loose avalanches caused by the 2-4 inches of new snowfall accumulated from Saturday to Sunday, which drifted 6-8 inches in areas. One older (greater than 48 hours) large wet loose avalanche impacted the GTSR, likely Friday along the Slopes.
