We observed serious instability signs in the snowpack on a south-west facing slope. Time was around 1:00 pm BC time, and was lightly snowing, with flat light at the time. We heard, felt, and saw widespread settling in the snowpack when disrupted by any human weight. “whumpfing” was observed on all slope angles, including those not considered avalanche terrain. Our group turned around before slope got any steeper than 25 degrees. Would recommend more gradual terrain for recreating on. We also dug a quick shovel pit and observed large 5mm depth hoar crystals separating the rest of the snow pack with the ground. Two obvious weak layers were also found above said death hoar. Shallow snowpack with changing conditions on top. Looks like great skiing, but conditions all say otherwise.
