I sampled a wide variety of aspects and areas today, finding surface snow with considerable local variability. Steep, protected norths in the Bagley zone (e.g., Heart-Shaped Box) still held cold, dry, unconsolidated snow and produced surprising amounts of sluffing. Further out, NW-N-NE aspects on Ptarmigan Ridge were all wind-affected to varying degrees, with raised tracks on open, NE and N aspects, and unconsolidated (F) windblown to hard (1F/P) wind slabs on NW aspects. I produced minor cracking immediately below ridgelines and on steep convexities, though propagation was minimal and all observed wind slabs were unreactive
