Great snow where protected on this Windy day, growing wind slab problems ...future snowload may overpower the 1/4 rain crust or it will just fade away, only time will tell. 6-8 feet of snow making travel more possible :)
No avalanches observed...Surface cracking within the new 3-5" of snow, just loaclized not shooting. Definitely forming fresh wind slabs.Weather

South winds were gusting 20+ mph, and forming dunes and loading North aspects, winds were strong enough to put a couple trees across the groomed trail. Snow fall was light to moderate until mid day when the weather paused.
Snowpack
The snowpack is getting deeper, 6-8 feet above 7500'. Good soft new 3+ inches of cold snow on top of a right side up fairly strong and dense lower snowpack. There is a rain crust that seemingly went just above 8k’, was buried just last Friday-Saturday, that was failing yet not propagating across the extended column. The crust is slick on top yet seemed fairly bonded in this location overall. Beneath this 1/4/26 crust is a mixture of weak faceted snow that is fairly dry and cold giving the overall impression of a weak connection to keep an eye on.
