- <p>Triggered small but notably sensitive fresh wind drifts on cross-loaded slopes. Generally shallow 4-8" deep and D1. A small cross-loaded pillow was intentionally triggered while descending the slopes adjacent to Mount Tuscarora and Lake Mary Chutes. </p> <p>Since recent avalanche activity has diminished on the facet layer near the ground we wanted to dig and assess the hardness of the layer and the grain type to document. Snow profile is attached below. We dug high near Wolverine Bowl where HS was ~140cm. ECTX and basal facet layer 1F hard. Lower in the drainage HS ~150cm, ECTX and basal facet layer 1F+ and rounding facets. Attention is more focused on the surface snow and facet distribution. Shallow, low-density surface snow is faceting and sits above a layer of firm snow.</p>
Variable. Solar aspects crust. Polar aspects mostly shallow powder outside of wind-affected areas, some breakable wind board too.
