Quick report

Red Flags
Poor Snowpack Structure

No pro observation here really just confirmation of how variable the jan/ feb PWL is. Saw in the advisory yesterday that no slides failing on PWL had been reported on W aspects so wanted to take a look and maybe get out on some bigger W facing terrain.

Did 4 quick pits on W and NW aspects in upper White Pine all about 150cm deep

Tri chutes run out 9300' NW, pretty open spot - strong snow

Tri chutes right below the middle chute 9800' W, protected - junk in the trunk, foot + of loose faceted snow below march snow

below Red baldy run 9800' NW, open and exposed to wind - strong snow very cohesive layers

Above the lake 10100' W, sort of protected - strong snow

Sun crust and the higher tri chutes dig kept us on the low angle N. Still skiing great in wind protected spots!
