Quick report
Few quick thoughts from Sunday. Largely stable with some complexity. Hillmans Highway: Largely filled in with wind board over the rain crust. Excellent bond along all elevations to that rain crust. However, skiers left just shy of the top (the leeward side that captured most of the snow) had a mid-slab layer that was stubborn but note-worthy. Upon isolation in hasty's the block would reliably pop loose, (~25 cm) where I was. No shooting cracks or other flags indicating propagation, but we crossed to the scoured side regardless. GOS Similar level of excellent bonding to the ice crust. At elevation (above ~4700ish), there was widespread incidence of very small but highly reactive wind slabs from a more recent transport event than the prevailing wind board across most of the mid elevation alpine. These were isolated to south easterly aspects. Small pockets and never more than a few cm these were inconsequential for us, but something we clocked. Finally, around 4300 and below the snowpack was much warmer, in Gully 2, we found widespread thick heavy snow that was readily cracking and collapsing - though it was not propagating far or steep enough at that point in the gully to reflect a significant hazard.
