Quick report

Lot of people, ( including our group)heading up the East Peak skin track. Top of the ridge is extremely wind scoured in places. Cement Basin had very skiable powder on the more NE aspects and more wind hammered and denser on the more easterly slopes. Cornices are not large but there is evidence of wind loading on the N and NE aspects especially. Pits and hasty pits showed nice stable pow that skied well but we avoided convex rollovers and big wind loaded pockets for our descent line. Snow has blow in on the lower trees and the depth is surprising and tree well danger was a concern. I must admit to being very surprised by the moderate NWAC rating. Although we saw, nor experienced any instability problems, with poor line choice or very steep lines , we all felt a problem could occur. Our consensus was that it was a " Considerable " day that demanded some attention.
