Snowpack
Weak faceted snow, along with depth hoar, continues to exist throughout this area on NW-N-NE aspects above 8600'. We dug and did snowpack tests at 3 different locations through this terrain where the persistent slab avalanche problem exists. All locations showed a mostly soft overlying slab on top of the previous weak faceted snow layer near the ground. While the weak layer appears to be fairly consistent in this area, we could not find a location that had a strong enough slab to show unstable snowpack test results. Snow coverage has greatly increased since the last storm in this area.
