Quick report

Cracking
widespread

Toured up Taylor and Glory separately from midday to afternoon to see how the incoming storm would change things in the alpine. Mid-elevations stayed sheltered, but around 8,500', a distinct change in snow conditions occurred. Snow was cracking and extending into sheltered, treed terrain. Currently, there's no digging necessary. The nature of the snow structure is easy to feel when planting one's poles, punching through the new snow to weaker snow.

Wind and snowfall picked up right around 2 PM. The new snowfall (combined with the wind) is building denser slabs atop lighter snow-- in addition to every facet in the book we formed throughout December. Within 20 minutes, my skin track was refilled with snow. Things will be more sensitive moving into tomorrow, and the weak snow beneath the new snowfall is expected to behave unpredictably.
