Considering how much new snow there was and that we were under an avalanche warning I found the conditions to be surprisingly stable. I attribute this to the very wet and heavy snow and warm conditions. I dug two snow pits one was 90 cm deep and the other was 110 cm deep there was approximately 45 cm of new snow from the latest round of precipitation. I perform shovel sheer tests and found failures with moderate pressure at the new snow and Fridays lighter density snow interface.
