We remote triggered a size R2+ avalanche on the SE face of Mount Republic from 500 ft away, with a 3-4 ft crown (likely on the persistent weak layer). It flowed heavily into the trees below (out of sight). The slope showed an obvious convexity prior to running, which was a sign that it might not be stable. We audibly/noticeably collapsed the upper snowpack (witnessed whumpfing) several times prior to the remote trigger event, specific to the wind-loaded slopes on the SE face. The remote trigger occurred with a noticeable drop by a few inches - we felt it.
