The new snow is dense and heavy and will serve as some great base building once it settles out. For now it is a bit upside down for riding quality and providing enough stress to overload some of the old faceted snow that it fell on. We noted multiple avalanches, cracking, collapsing, and poor structure (cohesive snow overlying softer/relatively weaker snow) in our snowpit.
Cracking and collapsing anywhere that held old snow. This included low angle solar slopes, ridgelines, and especially northerly slopes. Full gambit of avalanches, natural, explosive, remote, and human triggered avalanches around Teton Pass. They seemed to be breaking 1-2' deep on northerly terrain on slopes over 35 degrees.Weather

Moderate westerly winds loading leeward slopes. Above 9,800' feet we where generally in the cloud, thick rime was forming on trees and tripods. Temps where in the upper 20's but it was cold with wind and humidity.
Snowpack
We noted about 1 foot (30cm) of storm snow in sheltered areas. The new snow is dense and slabby, and feels upside down with the week snow that is underneath.
On W-N-E aspects this sits atop a facet crust combinations. We found this to be reactive in an ECT test with ECTP 12 down 30cm breaking above and below a rain crust. There is weak snow at the ground, but is more cohesive than the weak snow in the mid pack.
Main layer of concern is the midpack crust and the weak snow surrounding it.
