Tumalo

Skin tracks on SW and W side both smooth sailing. Nearing top 1/3 of climb showing signs of instability and variable break through crust from heavily wind loaded areas. Sustained 25/30mph winds at summit near SW lip. Inversion layer left summit in the sun, with a heavy fog cloud layer about mid bowl and lower. Winds at true summit were more like 10/15mph Bowl looked wind loaded and chunky, opted not to ride and stick to less angle and less wind loaded. Two laps on front side (sw to w) facing. Overall ride down was better than expected, especially in upper 2/3 of run, then a bit choppy last 1/3. Watch for big wind lips and large tree wells. Very obvious wind loaded crust with varying depths depending on location 8-15 inches maybe. Snowboard jump / Shear on various areas showed this clearly. Along with some woomfing while walking around summit top area from the snow being carried over SW scoured side. What I observed id say matched what my expectations were based on recent weather. Use good judgement with crust and wind loading.
