Quick report
Snow was soft and mostly unaffected by wind up until about ~6400ft. Above that was the expected wind dunes, drifts, and harder pack surface. Firm wind affected surface on ridge. Some cracking around skis on test slopes, with no obvious signs of propagation or sliding. Cracking was more prevalent as we reached higher elevation on more wind affected snow, still no propagation.
Snowpack
We dug a pit on E/NE aspect off the ridge, just into the trees where snow was less wind affected, ~6700ft. Pit provided ECTN14, partial propagation. Failed ~25cm from surface, about where snow went from fist to 4 finger hard. Groppel layer found ~40 cm below surface, but was not providing any failure in multiple tests. No observed persistent weak layers.
