Instability Comment
<p>Dug a pit on the east-facing side of twin lakes pass @ 10,125' just to see what was going on compared to weeks past. The snowpack depth was about 155cm, and located the layer of facets from the fall about 120 cm deep. Performed an ECT which yielded no results. Also performed a shovel shear test which yielded no results. While there is clearly a weak layer deep within the snowpack, it seems to have settled. However, I'd still be leery of steep, rocky upper-elevation terrain and pitches with a thinner snowpack. </p> <p>Noticed/felt some wind-effected snow on some sw-facing aspects today. It was mostly covered with the new snow from the past few days and I didn't experience any reactivity, but it could pose a problem on steeper, more wind-loaded terrain. </p>
