Below treeline slopes near town

Although the snowpack is still reactive below treeline and showing obvious signs of danger here, I am seeing improvements.  Compared to areas where I traveled last week with similar snowdepths of around 85 cm(ex. Gothic), collapses are less frequent and aren't radiating nearly as far.  This isn't because of noticeable improvements to the weak layer, but rather, because slabs are faceting and decaying now.  The slab used to be supportive but now my skis are sinking through to the weak layer on most steps while breaking trail.  This all means that potential size is decreasing and with continued slab faceting in the coming days, the problem will become more isolated and less reactive.  I only traveled up to 9,600'; slabs are certainly stiffer and capable of propagating wider as you go higher in elevation.  

About half of the targeted features that I crossed would collapse with cracks radiating about 10 to 15' on the well developed facets below a 30 to 40 cm Holiday Slab.
