- <p>Wind loading was evident near ridge tops. Our group observed wide spread cracking and some whoomphing. </p>
Persistent weak layer was easily identified at approximately 13 cm from the ground. This layer is primarily 1.5mm Facets. It was good to see a significant amount of new snow settling in to create good insulation and hopefully begin stabilizing this layer.
Today's tour was quite pleasant. Snow depths were arround 85cm near 8700' on Northerly aspects. In combination with last weekends storm snow and this weeks new snow we are finally feeling like there is a base to the snowpack. There is no doubt the Persistent weak layer is lurking so we stayed off slopes greater than 30 degrees. We observed a few large Whoomphs while on the skin track. This new snow + time will begin stabilizing our snowpack.
