Signs of avalanches at lower elevations around 7000ft

Granite Canyon Traverse N aspect at about 7,100ft. I assume that the avalanche broke on a crust that could have formed early January during the spell of warm weather and rain at low elevations. I am assuming it was a crust because I observed similar avalanche activity at low elevations I’m not sure how wide the crown was but it was about 4’ deep. It looked like as the skier was approaching the traverse, the avalanche broke above them and carried/partially buried the individual. I only have a small bit of information as I waited to see if the groups needed assistance but rescue was called already. The skier seemed uninjured but called for rescue as they lost their skis
