Quick report

Cracking
isolated

Up to a foot of new snow on top of crust, much less under trees. A bit wet and slabby at lower elevations, becoming lighter and less consolidated above 5k’. Dug a pit next to the lake, 5100’ on a NW aspect. Above the crust snow was right side up ranging from F to 4F. Performed an ECT and got ECTP 11 failing cleanly just below the crust -30cm down, seems to be on a weak layer of surface hoar(?) that formed between 2 rain crusts. Then also got ECTN 25 on an interstorm interface -50cm down. We kept it simple and skied down Stormies on <35 degrees terrain. A bit surprisingly we never triggered anything to slide on steeper rollovers.

Avalanche

Small <D1 avalanche with ~8” crown on a small convex rollover next to uptrack, a day old. No new slides from today observed
