Quick report

Excellent riding conditions at Blue Lakes with few signs of slab instability observed. We saw several recent Dry Loose avalanches, both natural and human triggered. None were big enough to bury a person. Similarly, three natural slab avalanches seen in the same area on The Nipple - also not big enough to bury a person. Clear views of numerous repeat avalanche paths with no other slab avalanches. Test slopes consistently produced superficial Dry Loose results with no cracking, though we could see wind texture along ridges where wind blown snow may have been more cohesive. Recently filled-in creeks were crossable at speed but one did collapse under a rider and resulted in a lengthy extraction. Fortunately we were managing our group with close spacing so the accident was witnessed and the rider was unharmed.
