Torlesse , Castle hill peak conditions East facing has a solid very textured rime crust. About 5cm of dry loose pow under that before hitting frozen snow. ( i was only near ridge line. However looked similar all way down surface wise). West facing castle hill peak . Large firm cornices 1m+ fresh snow. Below ridge line, surface was very soft slab aprox 5cm deep. Slides off super easy but didn't propagate. Under that 30-50cm of soft dry loose winter snow. While Skiing sinking 20cm before compaction surface slab undectable. ski cutting cornices and isolated pockets on roll overs along with various hasty tests with no results. At 1600m it became variable from 20cm blower pow to pockets of soft and stiff slab upto 70cm deep. South facing bowl from top of foggy peak.Once below the ridge line by 20m Primo loose dry Pow sinking 30cm or so, no layers. No signs of instability. Fantastic skiing. West facing snow was becoming effected by solar around 1-2pm. Possible slight sun crust may form.
