Face shots! Yes, it was that good today. The new snow bonded very well to the old melt-freeze crust and the snow was right-side up for most of the day with no visible tension in the snow. As the front passed, post frontal cells dumped some heavier snow which was accompanied with some graupel and SW winds. Afternoon winds were having their way on exposed ridgelines but that quickly subsided as the front passed and the sun came out. Digging down below the melt-freeze crust, on the north slope, revealed cold facets which was great because I am more concerned with wet snow this time of year. With a solid 3 cm crust and only 14 inches of snow the facets were of little concern to me.
