Quick report

Cracking
specific

There was a lot of wind loading and cracking around 9800' in the apron of the couloir where it was less sheltered. HST 35 cm at the upper elevations. Upslope winds were coming up Avalanche Canyon from the N at the ridge line. Moderate to heavy snowfall throughout the day. There was significant windloading at the top of the couloir. We ski cut the top and base of the rappel and kicked off a D1 Wind Slab (15 cm deep) at the base of the rappel (mid-couloir). The wind was coming upslope from Avalanche Canyon (form the NE). When we hit the apron there was a ton of cracking. This felt far less stable than the couloir.
