Quick report

Skinned from the grotto falls trailhead lot at 8:30 this morning. Light cloud cover and saturated snow from the lot to ~maid of the mist approach. Afterwards there was a widespread and supportable melt freeze crust that persisted to hyalite lake. While approaching the lake there were visible roller balls from rocky east facing features, likely one or two days old. I dug a pit on a NE aspect around 9100 ft. HS 130 cm. Similar results to the ob from 12/11 around hyalite lake: ECTX and a dense slab broke cleanly an old melt freeze crust from November around 75cm down when pulled. A 1-2 cm melt freeze crust exists on top of the snowpack.
