Sunny day above inversion at ~6600’. Light to Moderate W - NW winds. Little to no active snow transport.
Snowpack
Through our travels between 5500’ and 7500’ we found surface hoar on the surface (average 5mm) in many open areas. A snow pit at 6800’, NE aspect with snowpack height of 210cm (~6ft), had a subtle firm over soft snow layer at the surface. Overall, the snowpack is right-side up, soft over harder snow. A thin (0.5cm thick, K hard) crust is found down 50cm (~1.5ft). CT and ECT showed no results. Recent wind effect near and at ridge crests are present on the surface and we found this more prevalent than expected. Winds were calm below ridge crests with better surface quality conditions in sheltered areas.
