Quick report
Went up horse creek with a winter mountaineering group. Stopped at the base of the first real steep slope at 9000’ and dug around before continuing. We were on a 28 degree slope facing NW. This location was extremely leeward with 320cm of snow. In comparison just 50 yards windward we saw 160cm, and 50 yards further was pretty much bare. We had surprising stability test results with ECTP(24) and CT(13)SC. There was a buried wind slab that failed on a softer layer beneath it. I attached a photo of a hasty snow profile of the top 60cm. Needless to say we didn’t continue with a group of 7 people.
