Stevens Peak

We went to the North Ridge of Stevens Peak to look for spring snow today.  On our ascent we traveled through dense treed terrain and open areas on mostly NE-E aspects and encountered all types of variable snow surface conditions including breakable crusts, wet snow, and some soft cold snow.  Snow coverage is limited on southerly aspects with many areas melted out, but we were able to find a SE gully feature with good coverage and spring snow conditions by midday.  East aspects still remain transitional in this area with more variable conditions.
