Snow conditions were excellent. Widespread surface hoar on the surface snow which broke down on S aspects but stuck around on N aspects all day. It was very windy and cold, and we could see a lot of snow moving around both near us and further away on n slopes of chair peak and mt Roosevelt. We didn’t not experience any collapsing but did experience isolated cracking on the lee of slopes which increased in touchiness throughout the day. Even though the winds weren’t super strong, the snow was so low density that it was moving around very quickly. All S aspects had a thin zipper crust that did not break down throughout the day, it seemed like the winds today kept the snow much colder than yesterday with almost no warming/shedding observed.
Avalanche
Triggered some very small wind pockets on the ridge of Wright peak. They were thin (2-4 inches) and broke on very small convexities on the lee of the ridge (N side). Wind was blowing hard all day and a lot of snow was being moved around, the snow got touchier near ridgelines throughout the day.
