We (AST1 course buy Stephan Poirier) were surprise of the supportive crust holding our weight, none of us break through that layer! which was hiding under 5 cm of fresh snow. 2 melt/freeze crust were discover in our compression test: First one 15cm deep, second one 45cm. WHOOPHING IN ONE AREA ON THE WAY TO SUMMIT CREEK VALLEY, THAT WAS THE ONLY ONE. WHICH IS TELLING US THAT SNOWPACK IS SETTLING. THE DEPTH HOAR IS PRESENT ON ALL ASPECT IN ALPINE ZONE AND PROTECTED BY THE LOWER MELT/FREEZE CRUST.
