Sled tracks were apparent when the avalanche was observed on Monday, 1-29, so the avalanche could have been remotely triggered. Rapid warming on Sunday, 1-28 might have shocked the snow, causing a natural hard slab avalanche. TW
We went up to the avalanche on Tuesday, 1-30-2024. It's hard to tell if the avalanche was a natural one or if it had been remotely triggered from an adjacent slope. The timing is also unclear, but it likely happened during rapid warming over the weekend (1-27 0r 1-28). There were a few other natural avalanches spawned by the heat and the first direct sun on slopes that had been shrowded in clouds for a long time previously. TW
