Don't know much about how this happened. Saw it from the road and I know it wasn't there yesterday. Just happened to have a telephoto lens and my camera with me. Estimated depth was based on photos and approximate size of other objects near the crown. Looks like it broke at the base of the snowpack on the PWL. I didn't see any evidence of skiers in the photos and I can't imaging that anyone would dare ski this line in the current conditions so I assumed that it was natural.
