Signs of a massive avalanche are present along the Pfiefferhorn's east ridgeline as well as signs of a slide on the west ridge. No way to know exactly when it occurred or what triggered it but it's all but certain failure was on the weak bed of facets found across the range. Red line to indicate crown line is offset in photo for clarity.
