With a mountain weather forecast of heavy snow for the North Rockies and North Cariboo we decided to check out the action. We snowmobiled to the Raven Lake trail for a ski. Unfortunately, the freezing level was still too high, and it was pouring rain at the trailhead. The shallow snowpack was isothermal and unsupportive. So we adjusted the plan and continued on snowmobiles to scout out where the freezing level was. We found it at about 1300m.
