Quick report

Cracking
isolated

-Touchy wind slabs at ridgeline and test slopes. -Estimated 6-8” new snow being actively transported by strong westerly and southwesterly winds. -Wind slabs found at and near treeline on easterly through northerly aspects. These were mostly stubborn and did not crack. We were surprised to find wind affected snow low in the apron of Jenny Bowl. -Widespread but thin melt/freeze crust found on nearly all aspects below the new snow. This will make a lovely sliding surface for wind and storm slabs. -We skied cautiously finding the best turn in wind sheltered terrain below treeline.

Avalanche

Intentionally kicked off a small wind slab on a Northeast aspect at 7900’. Crown was 2-6” deep, running 50-75’ long. Sluff ran full path and entrained new snow.
