Quick report

Beautiful mostly sunny day on Castle Pk. Skied heavy stable powder on the NE face and NW face. Skis sunk 2-3in. By the end of the day many of the classic lines in the zone had been skied. I dug a 150cm wide and 165cm deep pit at approximately 8800’ on a NE mostly sheltered test slop with some minor wind loading. The snowpack is brand new and mostly upright with a 3cm hard crust at the base with 2cm of facets below it to the ground. any weak layers I identified were minor. I conducted a compression test and an extended column test. Results: ECTN-30 - fracture roughly 50cm from the surface. CT-22- fracture roughly 25cm from surface.
