Quick report

Cracking
specific
Collapsing
specific

There was about 2” of new snow on the skin track from yesterday, it snowed moderately all day I was out. At about 2400 ft in a spot the skin track had been blow in, I got a large shooting crack above me on the skin track where the snow was unsupported, then took about 6 steps and had another large shooting crack nearly connect to the first, slope angle here was about 32 degrees. At 2540ft I got a large collapse stepping off the skin track. Once this new snow turns into a slab, things are going to get real dangerous.

Avalanche

During a brief clearing, I spotted a 100-150 ft wide avalanche at about 3000ft elevation on the SW face of tenderfoot.
