Moderate SE winds mid morning, minimal snow transport. Temps were below freezing. Skys were generally overcast with the occasional patch of snow and snow flurry. Snow conditions were variable, wind crust, melt freeze crust, wind buff, and the elusive turn of settled pow.
Snowpack
We dug on a NE aspect ~9,100' off of Mount Glory. Here there was 1.5 meters of snow. The top half of the snowpack consists of a right side up slab with a 1F slab sitting atop the 12/10 rain crust. The bottom half shows the old November snow which has gained a lot of strength and close to being fully rounded grains. Stability tests yielded no results, however, when a crust is involved our typical stability tests are suspect.
