Quick report
Great day out at Broken Top today! The latest snow came in cold and with very little wind, pretty rare for here. Deep snow in the skinner. Today was sunny but cold, which kept the snow great. Some of the best snow I’ve ever seen out there! Consistent, great pow without any wind slab or other weirdness. Just a joy to ride. We rode Pucker and 3 o’clock. There was a bit of variability on the more south facing side of Pucker, but mostly the snow was great, especially on the apron. So good. Then we went over to 3 o’clock, which was maybe even better. It was completely filled in without the usual wind hammering it gets from facing west. We were actually able to skin to a few feet from the top, which seems pretty rare. Great snow on the descent, wasn’t getting too heavy from the sun due to the temps staying cold. There were quite a few folks out there, as could be expected. Probably 10 tracks in Pucker by the end of the day. A few in Tower. Also a few in A La Mode, which looked a lot better than before this last storm. Sled road getting out there was groomed a few days ago but is already a gnarly whoop-fest again. The only instability we saw was what looked like a storm slab that released naturally, below the cliffs in the main crater between 9 o’clock and 11 o’clock.
